League Overview
Join our Commander Precon League, a fun, casual event series built for every kind of Commander player.
Players will face off in multiplayer pods every Wednesday night, starting December 10 and running through March 4.
This is a relaxed, community-focused league where the goal is to enjoy Commander, meet new players, and slowly power up your deck over time.
Deck Rules
Players must begin with a sealed preconstructed Commander deck or build one identical to an official precon list.
Eligible decks include any Commander precon released in 2021 or later, up to and including Edge of Eternities.
The only decks banned from this period are Modern Horizons preconstructed decks.
Banned and restricted rules:
- Game Changers cards are not allowed unless they were included in the original precon.
- Cards banned in Commander are not allowed.
- No proxies are allowed. All cards must be authentic.
Players must submit their decklist every week, noting any updates or swaps made. Decks will be checked at random during events to ensure legality.
Examples of legal decks include Strixhaven, Baldur’s Gate, Warhammer 40K, Doctor Who, Fallout, Duskmourn, and any other precon from 2021 through Edge of Eternities.
Decks must remain true to their original precon identity, including the same commander, theme, and color identity.
Upgrades
Decks may gradually be upgraded throughout the league. Each phase allows a cumulative total of swaps from the original deck, including any swaps made in previous phases.
A swap means replacing one card with another of your choice.
Phase 1: December 10 - December 17, 0 swaps (precon only)
Phase 2: January 7 - January 14, up to 5 total swaps including any swaps from Phase 1
Phase 3: January 21 - January 28, up to 10 total swaps including any swaps from previous phases
Phase 4: February 4 - February 25, up to 15 total swaps including any swaps from previous phases
Finals: March 4, up to 20 total swaps including any swaps from previous phases
Example: If a phase allows 10 swaps, that means at least 90 of the 100 cards should come from the original precon list. Swaps are cumulative from the original deck and cannot exceed the total allowed for that phase.
Players may make these swaps at any time during the phase, but the total for the phase cannot exceed the listed cumulative number.
League Format
Multiplayer pods of 3 to 4 players will be created with those who attend on Wednesday.
Each night will consist of two games.
Matchups will be timed with a hard stop at 90 minutes per game, followed by a short break before the second game begins.
Attendance and results will be tracked for standings.
Makeup Games
Makeup games will be available if there are enough people that did not come Wednesday to make a pod.
Players in makeup pods may collaborate to find another night to play before the next week’s event.
Makeup games must still be played in-store before the next scheduled Wednesday event.
Players who play makeup games on other nights will not receive the weekly promo card.
Pod Matchups
Pods will be matched based on record.
Players with similar win totals will be grouped together to keep games fair and competitive.
Scoring
- 3 points for attending on Wednesday
- 1 point for attending a makeup game
- 1 point per game played
- 1 point per game won
Weekly Attendance Reward
Players will receive a random promo card for each week they attend on Wednesday.
