Marvel Super Heroes Limited Commander Precon League Guide
🎉 What Is This?
This season is a Limited Precon League! Players start with a Commander precon, crack Play Boosters throughout the season, and upgrade their decks using only the cards they open during league play.
No netdeck shopping lists. No binder diving. No arms race. Just precons, packs, creativity, and fun Commander games. ✨
The goal is simple:
Start with a precon. Open packs. Build your card pool. Upgrade your deck. Battle for glory.
📅 League Schedule
Start Date: Wednesday, July 1
Final League Night: Wednesday, August 5
League Night: Wednesdays at 6:00 PM
The league will run for 6 weeks.
Each league night will include two Commander games.
Each game will have a 90-minute time limit.
At the end of the season, each player’s lowest scoring night will be dropped. So if you miss a week, have a rough night, or your deck decides lands are optional, you still have a chance to stay in the race. 😄
💵 Entry Fee
Entry Fee: $40
Your entry includes:
• Six weeks of league play
• One random Play Booster each week
• Eligibility for league prizes
• Eligibility for the attendance prize
$10 from each entry goes directly into the season prize pool.
🧙 Choosing Your Starting Deck
Players must begin with one official Wizards of the Coast Commander preconstructed deck.
Your starting deck must be registered before your first league match.
The deck must begin as the official, unmodified preconstructed decklist.
🚫 Banned Starting Decks
The following decks are not allowed:
• Modern Horizons III Commander decks
• Any deck that has previously won a Darkstone Comics Precon League season
Current banned previous winner:
• Obscura Operation
📦 Building Your Card Pool
Your league card pool consists only of:
• The cards from your registered starting precon
• Cards opened from league Play Boosters during the season
Cards from outside your league card pool may not be added to your deck.
That means no adding cards from:
• Your personal collection
• Store purchases outside of league packs
• Trades
• Cards borrowed from other players
• Other players’ league card pools
If you want to play it, you have to open it. 🎲
Players keep all cards they open during the league.
🎁 Weekly Packs
Each week, every player receives one random Play Booster as part of their league entry.
The included weekly Play Booster will be randomly selected by Darkstone Comics from eligible in-stock Magic: The Gathering Play Booster products.
Want to push your luck? Each week, players may also purchase up to two additional league Play Boosters for $5 each.
Additional league Play Boosters may be chosen from eligible in-stock Magic: The Gathering Play Booster products selected for league use.
Only Play Boosters are eligible for league pack openings. Collector Boosters, Commander decks, Prerelease Kits, Bundles, promo packs, and other sealed products are not eligible.
Optional additional Play Boosters must be purchased and opened during that week’s league night. Unused additional pack purchases do not carry over to future weeks.
If a player misses a week, their included weekly Play Booster may be picked up during a future league night or arranged with the Tournament Organizer for another night.
All league Play Boosters must be opened with a store representative present so the card pool can be recorded.
Cards may not be added to a player’s deck until they have been opened and recorded as part of that player’s league card pool.
📝 Card Pool Tracking
Each player’s card pool will be tracked throughout the season using a physical card pool sheet and Archidekt.
Players are responsible for making sure all league packs are opened and recorded properly before using those cards in their deck.
Think of it like your adventuring inventory. If it’s not on the sheet, it’s not in the bag. 🎒
🛠️ Deck Building and Upgrades
Players may modify their deck between games using cards from their league card pool.
There is no swap limit.
Players may add or remove as many cards as they want, as long as every card used is part of their registered league card pool.
All decks must remain legal Commander decks.
Your deck must always follow the color identity of your current commander.
👑 Commander Changes
Your starting commander must come from your registered preconstructed deck.
During the season, you may switch commanders at any time between games.
You may use any card, or legal combination of cards, from your league card pool that can legally serve as your commander.
There is no limit to the number of commander changes during the season.
Your deck’s color identity is based on your current commander, not your original precon.
Open something spicy? Build around it. 🔥
⚠️ Game Changers
Cards on the Commander Game Changer list may not be added from league packs.
Game Changers that were already included in your registered starting precon remain legal.
For league purposes, the Game Changer list will be based on the list in effect at the start of the season.
🏆 Scoring
Players earn points each league night as follows:
• 3 Points for attendance
